Women’s Social Entrepreneurship Center
The Women’s Social Entrepreneurship Center of East Oakland (WSEC) was created to address the historical, institutional, and structural challenges facing women at multiple intersections of marginalization. We seek to create transformative social change by providing a safe space, tools, and a community for self-identified women and non-binary individuals of color who wish to launch and grow their social entrepreneurship endeavors.
It is the intent of the WSEC that through its programs, participants will be more aware of the entrepreneurial paths to economic self-sufficiency and will be better equipped with self-confidence, a peer support group, and technical skills to navigate economic barriers intersecting with race, immigration status, gender, and sexuality. Most importantly, the WSEC strives to create an environment in which participants will maintain the hope necessary to flourish.
